The Annenberg Foundation website is a fantastic resourse for teacher who are interesed in learning about best practices and watching model teachers teach in real classrooms.
Clink on the Annenberg Foundation link (If you do not already have a password, sign-up, it's free!) and then skroll down to the video link for '52. Classrooms Over Time: Problem Solvers Fall and Spring'. Click on the video Icon and watch the video clip.
After watching the clip, repond to the following observation:
After the students were given the pumpkin, they were asked to estimate the number of seeds in the pumpkin. The first group could not come to a concensus. Do you agree with how the teacher handled this argument? Would you have done something different? Are arguments between students ever useful?
